  OPERATION OVERWATCH: NOT FAKE NEWS!


Considers the implications of fake news within the United States and the world, as the forefront of media needs to set a standard for the importance of transparency,


Acknowledges the inevitability of bias from the press and the people as psychological factors that cannot be avoided


Providing people with the protection from fake news via ensuring safe passage of undercover journalist in dangerous areas through expanding international offices,


  1. Expands the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act under the FDIC to include media broadcasts as a consumer commodity in order to improve labeling as,

    1. Media broadcasts generate mass revenue via their audience, which are consumers and thus validates the argument that said media broadcasts should be considered a consumer commodity,

    2. Improvements in the labeling of news sources will be evident to the people with their respective labels of right wing vs left wing, or any other political affiliation,

    3. Will ensure a legally binding way for corporations to give themselves a label without much interference from the government,

      1. With legal incentive, corporations will adopt a clear distinction between news and opinions, following in the WSJ’s footsteps of transparency,

      2. And will be advocated for by multiple corporations to Congress, as Democrats and Republicans alike should be fully supportive of ensuring transparency and accountability for political affiliations,


  1. Establishes international offices to work in conjunction with undercover investigative journalists to create a “sister cities” sort of relationship,

    1. Will include expansion of individual corporation’s international offices into countries with weak reigning newspapers as to encourage communication between state, independent, and international newspapers,

      1. Will cover all points of view in order to ensure fully nonpartisan, neutral reading of events, which is why state newspapers are considered,

    2. Will be legally backed by the Global Investigative Journalism Network which provides privatized protection for undercover journalists and will ensure a lack of clash between countries regarding undercover work,

      1. For nations that disregard blatant freedoms, the implementation of Flash Drives For Freedom (which has previously worked in North Korea) will be instituted to ensure that the populations are able to obtain true news,

        1. And is particularly important in regards to today’s crisis of the Ukrainian invasion by Russia, wherein Russian citizens are only told the censored version of events,

    3. Will ensure that embassies of international offices remain open permanently or year-round in order to ensure that in case of unexpected conflict, there will be no difficulties establishing communications,

      1. With incentive for countries to participative being the economic stimulus that increased media coverage brings to their nations,

    4. Seeks to implement these policies globally by recommending countries to do so via fourth estate accessible by news outlets for direct sources),

      1. Once adopted, will obtain economic funds from IMF banks as well as UN protection of undercover journalists through passed framework.




  1. Implements a media literacy education program which helps develop critical analysis of political bias in media

    1. Offered to schools to promote thinking comparatively on modern-day information to develop individual thought autonomy of students,
